In this talk, we’ll dive into the essentials of impact measurement and impact-driven strategy. We’ll discuss how to move beyond outputs and reach – and focus on real change. Through some practical steps and tools, building an impact roadmap to measure direct and indirect effects of your activities. We’ll also explore some impact criteria that support better decision making: helping you focus time, resources and energy on what works best. This talk is relevant for anyone working in research, education or practice who wants to move from “we do a lot” to “this is how we make a difference”. No complex methods – just clear, actionable insights to help you show, learn from and grow your impact. This talk is followed by space for questions and exchange of experiences.

About the speakers

Simone de Wit is a consultant and trainer with 9 years of experience in impact, strategy and change management. She has a background in social sciences and social entrepreneurship and supports organizations to make their impact more visible and maximize positive societal change. Since December 2024 she works as Managing Consultant for SeederDeBoer, partner of REC Impact.

Maarten Biermans is a sustainable finance expert and Partner at Prow-Capital, as well as a Professor of Sustainable Finance and Impact Investing. Previously, he led Rabobank’s Global Sustainable Finance Team, starting there as Head of ESG Policy. Before that, he advised private equity firms on ESG and responsible investment at Spring Associates (now MJ Hudson). He holds dual Master’s degrees in Economics and Philosophy, a PhD in Economics from the University of Amsterdam, and actively contributes to think tanks like the Human Rights Committee of the Advisory Council on International Affairs.
