How did you come up with the idea to become a REC Impact Fellow at UvA?

Making an impact is in our DNA. Our goal is to make the transition from student life to working life smoother by providing resources and training, and by promoting student jobs as a fair alternative to unpaid or poorly paid internships. This way, we address inequality right at the start of people’s careers.

Because we work with students every day, we believe it’s essential to stay close to our audience, to meet them where they are. When we discovered that at the REC impact campus, people and ideas from different sectors naturally come together with the shared purpose of taking action towards making impact, we knew it was the perfect environment to take our mission to the next level! 

What was your first experience on campus?

What struck us immediately was how intentionally UvA has created a space and community where entrepreneurship and collaboration are at the core. We’d always known UvA was more than an academic institution, but here that idea truly comes to life. The blend of people, resources, and infrastructure makes it easy to move from ideas to action, whether that means exploring new concepts or hosting impactful events.

What do you hope the Fellowship will bring you?

We’re hoping for some serious cross-pollination: new perspectives, unexpected partnerships, and bold ideas. We want to create opportunities for others while continuing to grow ourselves. We see the Fellowship as a “launchpad”: a place to amplify our impact, build bridges between education and the job market, and explore new ways to make a difference!
