Dr. Glaser's research focuses on policy innovation, knowledge transfer, and capacity building for accelerated implementation of sustainable transport goals. She brings an interdisciplinary perspective to urban mobility, with her background in public health, urban planning, and environmental science. Her research has been published in several academic journals and she has given expert comment for numerous media articles. She has also acquired and managed the academic output for European projects (CYCLEWALK and HANDSHAKE), co-directs the summer program Planning the Cycling City, and has contributed to development and production of the massive online open course Unraveling the Cycling City. She currently serves as the Executive Director of the Urban Cycling Institute.
Prior to joining the UvA, Meredith has been involved in urban strategy and sustainable mobility policy transfer and consulting for nearly 10 years. She is originally from California and holds Masters degrees in city planning (MCP) and public health (MPH) from the University of California Berkeley. She completed her PhD in urban planning from the University of Amsterdam.
In addition to research, she has broad experience teaching all levels, from bachelors and masters to mid-career professionals. She is also the academic director of the summer program Planning the Cycling City, and has contributed to development and production of the massive online open course Unraveling the Cycling City. Meredith also regularly provides keynotes at international conferences that explore sustainable transport, innovation, urban design, and placemaking. She has been featured in a range of media outlets, including the The Guardian, Streetsblog, Bloomberg, Outside Magazine, and National Public Radio (USA).
